In Kyiv they told how much the “Google tax” brought to Ukraine
The state budget of Ukraine received $76 million from the “Google tax.” The largest amounts were declared by Google, Apple, Facebook and Instagram.
The head of the tax committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Daniil Getmantsev, reported this on social networks.
“Yesterday was the deadline for filing Google tax returns. This is VAT, which from this year large transnational corporations must pay on electronic services provided in Ukraine. The total declared amount for the second quarter is $76 million,” Getmantsev said.
According to him, the number of payers is 53 large companies.
Getmantsev reported that among those who declared the largest amounts:
- play.google.com;
- apple.com;
- facebook.com
- Instagram.com
“Thanks to the implementation of modern European rules on taxation of electronic services, the army received significant funding during the war. None of the payers and consumers of services went bankrupt, despite the forecasts of marginal “experts” from social networks. Consumers of Onlyfans.com, the very first service that paid more than 600 thousand dollars to the budget, did not suffer either,” Getmantsev wrote.
In May, it was reported that the Ukrainian budget received the first revenues from the Google tax - more than 300 thousand dollars from the OnlyFans website.
Let us recall that the Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 4184, which the media dubbed the “Google tax” in June last year. The law, in particular, obliges global Internet giants operating in Ukraine to pay taxes to the Ukrainian state budget. The introduction of this tax led to an increase in the price of digital services in the country, as global monopolies simply shifted the increase in their own costs onto the shoulders of consumers.
