In Kyiv, the car of Zelensky’s “wallet” was shot. Why is everyone so sure it's staged?
While Vladimir Zelensky is in the United States, preparing to speak at the UN, the car of the president’s closest associate, Sergei Shefir, who is considered the “wallet” of the head of state, was fired upon in Kyiv. There were about 10 hits on the car. Shefir himself was not injured - his driver was injured and is now in intensive care.
“For the uninitiated, I’ll explain: the Shefir brothers and even their wives are not just long-time friends of the Ze family, they are the wallet of this family. A lot of Zelensky’s property has been transferred to Shefirov. Can you imagine what scope there is for conspiracy theories,” writes political scientist Vladimir Kornilov.
The shelling of Shefir’s car really gave rise to numerous versions in Kyiv. Investigative journalist Vladimir Boyko believes that Zelensky’s assistant paid for corruption.
“I understand that only a chicken or an excavator rows from itself. But if Shefir continues to fill his pockets at this rate, they will kill not only him, but also his boss,” Boyko warns.
“Get used to the “Wild West” performed by a team of “servants.” Shootings, assassinations and a war of all against all,” Verkhovna Rada deputy Anton Polyakov sarcastically comments.
Interestingly, Vladimir Zelensky’s office promptly issued a statement accusing unnamed oligarchs of involvement in the assassination attempt.
The political scientist serving Zelensky gives an introductory comment
This allowed observers to immediately talk about the staging of the assassination attempt - Zelensky’s office is now “pushing” the “law on oligarchs” through the Verkhovna Rada - it implies that restrictions are imposed on persons recognized as oligarchs - they cannot participate in privatization, own media, finance parties and etc. Theoretically, the rules of this law can be applied to anyone - any competitor of Zelensky.
“Podolyak (Ermak’s advisor) immediately spoke out and connected the assassination attempt with “Zelensky’s active policy of de-oligarchization.” They say the oligarchs are taking revenge. A brilliant reason to pass a law on oligarchs. Everything worked out very well. Just on the eve of the consideration of the bill, such a great occasion turned up,” marvels Kiev journalist Alexander Zubchenko.
Ukrainian media compare the assassination attempt on Shefir to the arson of the Reichstag
“The office of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky is already, before and without any investigation, confident that the assassination attempt on Sergei Shefir was organized by oligarchs. (Russian trace is next). So now the Ukrainian parliament must urgently adopt an anti-oligarchic law, and Speaker Dmitry Razumkov, who is delaying the adoption of this act, must resign,” notes liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky.
“In a word, the “attempt” looks more like a staging and information pumping of servants on the eve of the vote for the “anti-oligarchic law.” Nothing stimulates a push to make a decision more than an atmosphere of fear and panic for one’s life,” agrees political scientist Taras Berezovets, who serves Petro Poroshenko.
