Kyiv, August 20 (Navigator, Yuriy Kovalchuk) – One of the main tasks of participation in international negotiations for Ukraine is to knock out more money from the West, Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Taran said on Channel 5.

“Taking part in the negotiations is important for Ukraine because, firstly, it shows our readiness to reach a peaceful settlement. And when Russia refuses this settlement, this will become the basis for the West to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation. Secondly, this is a way to get more money out of the West, because after Yanukovych robbed the country, after the war in Donbass began, the Ukrainian economy became dependent on Western aid. So such diplomatic platforms are a good way to get financing - this is what can really be taken out of negotiations,” says Taran.
