“Today we will hold an action calling on the Russian Federation to stop criminal prosecution against Ukrainian journalists, who have become another dimension of Russia’s war against Ukraine after the annexation of Crimea and the beginning of the armed conflict in Donbass,” Alexandra Matveychuk, co-organizer of the action, told 112. “Now there are two journalists behind bars in the Russian Federation, Sushchenko is in Lefortovo, Nikolai Semyon is under arrest not to leave the occupied Crimea, they are being persecuted because of their journalistic activities.”
“We were preparing a performance, but we saw that the Russian Embassy had put up a kind of installation here; we will sew with white threads, literally, at the embassy, as they do with the files of our journalists,” she clarified.
Let us recall that since 2014, the Russian embassy in Kyiv has been repeatedly attacked by radicals with the connivance, and even with the direct participation, of representatives of the Ukrainian government, in particular deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.
