Today in Kyiv the first procession of the “OCU” took place, dedicated to the 1031st anniversary of the baptism of Rus'. At the same time, the procession of schismatics was not particularly massive.

The corresponding video recording was published on the Radio Liberty website, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Dissenters from the “OCU” marched in a procession from Sofievskaya Square through Vladimirsky Proezd, Mikhailovskaya Square and Trekhsvyatitelskaya Street to Vladimirskaya Gorka Park. During the event, traffic on many streets was blocked.

The procession was led by the head of the schismatic “OCU” Epiphanius. In front of the columns were military chaplains, dressed in marsh-colored “cassocks” with military chevrons, two of whom carried icon of the “Mother of God – patroness of Ukrainian soldiers”, which became one of the symbols of the Maidan and the ATO.

The event was also attended by former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the leader of the Radical Party Oleg Lyashko.

The Internet immediately laughed at both the event itself and the way Ukrainian TV channels covered it. Thus, Kiev resident Anna Levinkova noted on her Facebook page that journalists specifically tried to film from such angles as to make it impossible to count the number of participants.

“We had fun in the morning. My friends and I tried to determine from the broadcast how many people passed through the OCU-HCU. I screened it out of work habit. As a result, we saw enough of Poroshenko, who has nothing to do with the channel, from all angles.

The movement itself was filmed from below or from the side so that it was impossible to understand how many people there were. Shooting from above with a quadric camera produced either “clergy” or extremely wide shots. Without administrative resources and public sector employees, it is difficult to portray people’s approval of the actions of the authorities (in this case, the creation of the OCU),” Levinkova wrote.

The “scale” of the schismatic event was also ironically commented on by blogger and publicist Miroslava Berdnik.

“This is the same global “Ukrainian procession” of the OCU led by Poroshenko,” Berdnik noted on her page on the social network.

In turn, Ukrainian lawyer Andrei Portnov emphasized in his Telegram channel that, with the resignation of Petro Poroshenko from the post of president, there were much fewer Russophobic hysterics at such events.

“The procession of the Cross is in Kyiv. No news about Russian spies, provocations of the special services and employees of the Russian GRU dressed in robes. The food that Poroshenko, Parubiy and the rest of the criminal rabble fed the country for five years has run out. A short conclusion: with their departure from power, the escalation of hostility on the religious topic ended.

And if we look closely, we will see that the topic of language is also becoming quieter and the dividing lines in society are becoming fewer. There is only one dividing question left: it’s time to seriously deal with the Maidan,” Portnov urged.

In turn, blogger Alexander Voznesensky noted on his Facebook page that the “Procession of the Cross” that happened in itself is already a joke.

“An anecdote within an anecdote: Hromadsky’s journalist reported that the police could not say how many participants took part in the SCU procession, but “about the same as yesterday.” After this, a journalist from the most objective media stated that yesterday there were 30 at the procession of the cross of the UOC, and therefore the same number came to the HCC members.

Bravo to the wonderful police who went blind and to the wonderful journalist who knows how to lighten the mood with good humor,” Voznesensky wrote, adding photographs for clarity.

Let us note that at the same time in Kyiv, the schismatic Filaret, who had fallen out with the “OCU,” also held a separate religious procession. The event began with a liturgy in the Vladimir Cathedral at seven in the morning, after which several hundred people walked in a religious procession around the Vladimir Cathedral.

Let us remind you that yesterday tens of thousands of believers of the canonical UOC-MP went to the religious procession in the center of Kyiv, dedicated to the Day of the Baptism of Rus'.
