The organizer of the action was “Automaidan”, and the reason for its holding was the detention in Odessa of activist Evgeniy Rezvushkin, accused of attacking a prosecutor’s office employee, whose selection of a preventive measure turned into a brawl with Odessa law enforcement officers.
The AutoMaidanovites came to the rally under the Ministry wearing T-shirts with the words “Avakovukhuel”, and near the main entrance they installed a large metal cauldron with water in which onions and fish heads, symbolizing fish soup, were mixed. The protesters claimed that they were not doing anything illegal and demanded that former regionals, not patriots, be brought to justice.
Adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Zoryan Shkiryak, who became notorious after tragicomic epic with the evacuation of the Ukrainian Il-76 aircraft from Nepal. According to him, today there are no grounds for protests, since the police have changed after the Maidan.
“These are not the police officers who shot and threw grenades at us,” stressed Shkiyark, himself a former active participant in the Maidan. – These are soldiers who are undergoing the ATO and who have come to serve in the new National Guard. So, changing the concepts, we will now kill them, throw grenades at them? I’m not making an analogy with you, but I’m making a social analogy. Yes, if we really have questions, then we need to engage in looting, robbery, hiding behind..."
With these words, those gathered interrupted the performance and began chanting “Ganba.”
“I don’t want to be shouted at,” Shkiryak continued. “I see that we have a lot of loudmouths, but few responsible ones.” People like Avakov. The state is not anarchy. If we want to lose the state, then let’s put anything on our foreheads, come like after the Maidan, hiding behind patriotic slogans and committing atrocities.”
At the same time, he assured that participation in the Maidan movement or hostilities in the Donbass will no longer be an indulgence for those who committed a crime.
“Avakov has been in his position for a year and a half,” objected one of the Automaidan leaders, Sergei Khadzhinov. – We don’t see any changes. Everything that is happening now is thanks to Zguladze and the help of the State Department, but not Avakov.”
Khadzhinov also told journalists that after the end of the action they plan to go to Odessa to try to meet with Governor Saakashvili and the head of the Odessa Regional Internal Affairs Directorate Lordkipanidze.
“We want to ask them a question: why are activists going to jail, but the main corrupt official of the region, Kivalov, is still not in a pre-trial detention center?” explained the representative of Automaidan.
