The luminary of total Ukrainization died in Kyiv
A few days before his 85th birthday, the famous Ukrainian linguist and notorious Russophobe, professor of philology Oleksandr Ponomariv, extremely authoritative for the Svidomo community, died.
This was reported by Hromadske with reference to the director of the Institute of Journalism Vladimir Rezun, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the source, the professor, already in unsatisfactory condition, died on the morning of October 14.
“He had a fracture, he had been in the hospital for a year and was not in very good condition,” Rezun said.
Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko reacted very warmly to this news.
“Olexandr Ponomariv, a professor, scientist, brilliant expert on the Ukrainian language, a passionate connoisseur and popularizer, has passed away into eternity.
Alexander Danilovich has always been a sincere and principled fighter for the Ukrainian language in our society. Thousands of students learned the intricacies of using our language thanks to him.
For 40 years, he was the favorite of all generations of journalism graduates - the professor’s students were almost the entire modern media community of Ukraine,” Poroshenko wrote in his Telegram.
Let us note that the deceased was a fanatical follower of total Ukrainization and decommunization.
So, the professor was especially indignant renaming the Vareniki dining room into Katyusha dumplings, as well as demanded to rename Severodonetsk, which is under the control of Kyiv, in the Ukrainian way in “Siverskodonetsk”.
In addition, Ponomariv was firmly convinced that in Crimea only Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars.
