An action was held in Kyiv to mark the 203rd anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko, during which activists washed the monument to the poet for the first time since independence.

A quadcopter from the Kyiv news agency UNN filmed what this process looks like from the air.
The publication notes that the Shevchenko monument was washed with ordinary water under high pressure, without any chemical detergents, so as not to harm the bronze sculpture. Upon completion of wet cleaning, a special protective emulsion was applied to the granite pedestal.
