Police in Kyiv fired shots when they detained the director of one of the local utility companies in the Lviv region, who was receiving a kickback of 680 thousand hryvnia in the capital. This was reported by the press service of the National Police, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Security officials from the economic protection department in the Lviv region uncovered a scheme in which the head of one of the enterprises demanded a “kickback” for the purchase of equipment from a specific supplier.
“During the arrest, the head of the command post tried to escape, law enforcement officers were forced to use weapons. Now the head of the utility company and the director of the company have been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine,” the message says.
