The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports this. As the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Artem Shevchenko clarified, this is the first case of a patrol using firearms to kill.
“The aggressive animal attacked passers-by and threatened the life and health of citizens, and later the police. The law enforcement officer neutralized the dog with several aimed shots. An investigation has been launched into this fact,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
According to the department, today at about 12 noon a police patrol car, driving along Raduzhnaya Street in the Dnieper district of the capital, noticed a fighting dog that was lunging at passers-by.
“Law enforcement officers reprimanded the owner of the animal, but the man reacted inappropriately to the police. At this time, the dog attacked the patrolman, bit him several times and partially damaged his uniform. To protect life and health, the police officer used his service firearm. As a result of several aimed shots, the dog was neutralized,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Doctors are currently providing medical assistance to the injured policeman at the scene. The collected information on this fact was registered in the Dneprovsky District Department of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv. The check has begun.
