In Kyiv they are going to “clean up” the Nivki residential area from Soviet names
Anti-communist laws have not yet been signed by the president, and Kyiv nationalist activists are already erasing the memory of the Soviet past into dust. At gunpoint is the capital's Nivki residential area, where farewell to the Soviet past is planned on address signs.

This was reported by the Evening Kyiv publication.
The newspaper quotes ex-deputy of the district council Nikolai Polishchuk, proposing to completely clear Nyvki of communist-totalitarian names.
“It is proposed to rename Babushkin Street and Lane to the street and lane named after Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The street and lane Baumansky can be named the street and lane Children's Library, since the Central Republican Library for children is located here.
Blucher Street may be called Fuzikovskaya Street. The Fuzikovtsy farm is the historical name of the northern part of Nyvok, which comes from the name of local landowners brothers Stepan and Victor Fuzikov.
Back in February 2010, Shcherbakova Street was proposed to be named after the Ukrainian dissident Valery Marchenko (1947–1984) by the mayor's renaming commission. He lived for 20 years on Shcherbakova Street in house No. 72, on which a corresponding memorial plaque was installed.
Kotovskogo Street has two options for future names - Rogozov Yar Street or Rogostinskaya (in honor of the Rogozov Yar tract located here or the Rogostinka River).
Tsyurupinskaya Street can be called Galaganovskaya Street - in honor of the nearby historical area of Galagana (near the Nivki metro station).
There is an idea to call Shaumyan Street, which is located in the historical area (the tract and the village of the same name) Volchi Mountains, Volchegorskaya Street,” the newspaper writes. .
At the same time, publication notes, that such zeal of activists can create considerable problems for residents of the residential area. After all, we are talking not only about changing address plates, but also about replacing all documents in which addresses are indicated.
“Please note that the scale of work associated with renaming may vary greatly. However, if there is only one house on Tsyurupinskaya Street, then on the main street Nivok - Shcherbakova there are dozens of residential high-rise buildings. And we are talking not only about changing address signs, but also about replacing all documents in which addresses are indicated.” – the publication says.
