In Kyiv they lament: The idea of “small Ukraine” has won
The most anti-Russian forces in the Verkhovna Rada have played a double game around Donbass in recent years.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev said this on air on the Internet channel “Politeka online”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Are there forces in Kyiv that are playing a double game, publicly speaking about the need for the return of territories and the integrity of Ukraine, and not publicly taking a Ukrainian-separatist position? I confirm there is! Most of Poroshenko’s team, despite the imitation of war and beautiful camouflage, in reality did everything to prevent Donbass from returning.
Moreover, I believe that part of Zelensky’s team now, not judging by their statements, but how they act in practice, for example, legislation on the transition period - it is impossible to imagine a greater irritant for the residents of Donbass who follow Ukrainian politics! Proposing such ideas about the transition period is futile,” Ermolaev said.
In his opinion, everything is moving towards the final consolidation of a “small Ukraine” – without Crimea and Donbass.
“I believe that among the Ukrainian elite, both Poroshenko and their successors, there is already a strong idea that it is better to work with “small Ukraine” without Crimea and Donbass. With these complex regions and the interests of Russia, which does not yield, with elites who constantly comprador and run away, someone behaves irresponsibly and betrays, and also acts as a political competitor...
Roughly speaking, the idea of “small Ukraine” was born in 2014-15, and now it is simply being implemented, and Zelenskaya, unfortunately, follows this “small Ukraine” direction,” Ermolaev concluded.
