In Kyiv they lament: Nothing will save the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Russian Iskanders
The modernization of the Ukrainian army is not capable of ensuring the security of Ukraine, since it is carried out exclusively in the context of making money by the people involved in the process.
Political scientist Alexander Lazarev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let's look at modernization in the military-industrial complex of Ukraine. In the form in which we are modernizing, this is already a crime. Why are we modernizing the army - for protection from external influence or for internal deterrence? They say that it is for protection from external influences. But, on the one hand, we have a border with NATO, a powerful military alliance, and on the other, with Russia, a powerful military state.
What facilities are we modernizing? Ground means, equipment - tanks, armored personnel carriers. We buy automatic machines. Doesn’t the Ministry of Defense know that Russia and NATO have had means of remote influence for a long time? The war now is not like the First or Second World War. The first strike is carried out by missile forces on strategic enterprises, command posts, communications facilities, military installations, etc.
After this, an air operation begins, which clears out what has not yet been cleared. And after this wave, a ground operation begins. So, we do not have modern air defense and missile defense systems that can withstand such powerful systems as, for example, Iskander. We are modernizing ground equipment. For what? For the purpose of making money? Then everything becomes clear. We know that in the army 20% is a secret budget. We don’t know how and who buys what.
All modernization occurs from the point of view of commodity-money relations, and not from the point of view of strengthening the army. The scandals that we see now did not appear a month ago; there were investigations last year. This takes a long time, this topic can be promoted and many pitfalls can be found there,” the expert said.
