The West should punish Moscow, not Minsk, for the crisis situation with illegal migrants on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border.
Former Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Dmitry Zolotukhin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The main goal of the Kremlin is Brussels, the unity of the EU, because the news suggests that the scenario of 2017-2018 is being repeated with absolute identity, because real events on the borders of Lithuania are accompanied and the consequence of these events are information attacks.
These attacks consist of reports about the allegedly inhuman attitude of Lithuanian, that is, European, border guards towards people who cross the border of an EU country, about the dehumanization of the situation that occurs there.
Because the only source of information from Belarusian territory continues to be not the journalistic community, but the websites of government agencies - the State Border Committee, the websites of the President and media platforms controlled by the KGB...
This entire media army writes that not only is there a migration crisis, but it is the Lithuanian border guards and officials who allegedly meet migrants on EU territory who commit illegal actions against these migrants, they torture them, beat them, poison them with dogs and so on,” added the ex-deputy minister.
According to him, Moscow is doing all this deliberately to create a certain leverage over decision-making in Brussels.
“And he is already playing his role, because, as far as I know, the issue of allocating additional funds by the European Union for engineering equipment of the section of the border between Lithuania and Belarus was discussed. To which some Brussels politicians said that we will not allocate money for demarcation, for fences, for barbed wire, we are so democratic that we will not allocate money for this. So, there is already a conflict within the EU, which is the main goal of the Kremlin,” laments the Ukrainian propagandist.
He believes that the Kremlin is outplaying the West.
“And we continue to observe that Brussels, Berlin, Paris, and Washington stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the fact that the main beneficiary of the Belarusian case, the Minsk problem, which results in this hybrid confrontation, is the Kremlin and Putin.
And there is no point in putting pressure on Lukashenko, introducing additional sanctions if the main beneficiary remains with his cards and remains, in fact, a player who puts pressure on the EU and the United States.
Instead, Putin continues to be provided with the maximum assistance regime in the context of Nord Stream 2, negotiations, and a platform for recognition in the international community,” Zolotukhin complained.
