In Kyiv they lament: Putin considers Ukraine part of the Russian Federation - like Buryatia
Russians perceive Ukraine as another subject of the Russian Federation; yesterday’s comparison by Russian President Vladimir Putin of Bashkiria and Ukraine at a press conference is not only his personal opinion. Deputy Minister for “Occupied Territories” Georgiy Tuka stated this on TV channel 112.
According to him, he realized that Russian citizens consider Ukraine their territory back during the conflict on the island of Tuzla in 2003.

“The most dangerous thing for us is that this point of view is not exclusively in Putin’s head - it is inherent in the majority of the population of the Russian Federation, unfortunately. And this didn’t start yesterday or the day before yesterday. I have directly observed this since 2003. Quite unexpectedly there was a metamorphosis when there was a transition from supposedly democratic changes in society during Yeltsin’s leadership, and then again very quickly all these imperial ambitions. I first began to hear such theses from Russians during the events in Tuzla. It started back then,” Tuca said.
