Kiev announced the beginning of negotiations with Russia on a gas transit agreement
The agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation has begun on the text of the agreement on the interaction of GTS operators, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by Naftogaz of Ukraine.
The document is necessary to continue gas transit through Ukraine, since the previous agreement expires on December 31, 2019.
“We have finally received from the Russians their comments on the interconnection agreement, which must be concluded in accordance with European rules. The head of the OGTSU submitted a draft of such an agreement to Gazprom at a trilateral meeting in September, but so far we have not had any response. Such an agreement is the first step towards the continuation of transit, although a final decision is still far away,” Naftogaz said.
This information was confirmed by European Commissioner Shchevchovich.
Naftogaz says that the trilateral meeting, scheduled for Friday, November 29, was postponed precisely so that specialists from both operators analyze the comments and agree on the text of the agreement.
