In Kyiv they advise Lukashenko not to make concessions to the opposition
If Alexander Lukashenko continues to make concessions to the opposition, this will not reduce the protests, since the opposition does not intend to do this in any case, as the example of Ukraine has already shown in 2013-2014.
Political scientist Alexander Bulavin stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Both Yanukovych during the Maidan, and Lukashenko now met the protesters halfway, trying to somehow take their demands into account. But it is useless to respond to the protesters’ demands. For example, Lukashenko suggested that the opposition recount the votes. But this did not cause any decline in protests. Similar actions of Yanukovych are well known to everyone.
This happened not only in Belarus and Ukraine, but also in Georgia and Armenia, where they also had their own “color revolutions.” These are the same technologies, and they are not related to how the opposition and the government interact, but to how the opposition should act regardless of what the government says and whether it makes any concessions. At one time, Yanukovych made extreme concessions, and this only worsened the situation. And the same thing can happen in Belarus.
But in Belarus there is no core of the protest movement, there is no program. During the Maidan, we at least talked about the “golden toilet” and “lace panties.” The Belarusian opposition does not even say that. In addition, her positions are contradictory - some say that negotiations need to be held with Russia, Tikhanovskaya says that the Russian language needs to be banned. If Lukashenko and his team had experienced political strategists, then all this could easily be used and nullify the entire movement,” the political scientist said.
