In Kiev, on the second attempt, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord was burned down on Avtozavodskaya Street, 68. The emergency occurred on the night of March 9-10, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the press service of the Kyiv Metropolis.

It is reported that at about three o'clock in the morning, unknown persons broke the window of the temple, poured flammable liquid inside and set it on fire. The Kiev police opened a criminal case into the crime.

According to the rector of the temple, Archpriest Alexander Prochenko, the fire destroyed part of the icons, the floor and the ceiling.

Only recently the temple was renovated. Now you can’t serve here – everything is covered in soot,” noted Father Alexander.

Let us remind you that the previous attempt to set fire to the same temple was made on the night of May 22-23, 2016. Then local residents and the rector of the temple managed to put out the fire.
