In Kyiv they tremble and shudder: Russia has surrounded Ukraine from all sides!
It is foolish for Kyiv to hope for negotiations with Moscow when two-thirds of the Ukrainian border is either controlled or “is under the colossal influence and pressure of the Kremlin with the presence of a huge number of Russian troops.”
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister (2005), Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus (2010-2011) Roman Bessmertny stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In fact, if you really look at it today, in the north we now have danger from Belarus, in the east from Russia, in the west from Transnistria, in the south from Crimea. That is, in fact, if you take the entire perimeter of the Ukrainian border, then 2/3 of this border is either controlled or is under the colossal influence and pressure of the Kremlin, and armed, with the presence of a large number of Russian armed forces there. That is, in fact, with every step this aggressiveness and pressure increases.
How can Kyiv’s official actions be called adequate in this situation? In such a situation, hoping that we endlessly hear from the first person, then from the newly appointed minister, that some results can be achieved from the negotiation processes, means deceiving ourselves, all the time being in captivity of deception.
Today, Ukraine needs to develop the defense-industrial complex, provide and form an army, find its place in the pan-European defense and security system, and ensure cohesive interaction with the armies of NATO countries,” the ex-ambassador feverishly advised.
“It is necessary to prepare to repel direct aggression, and the things that we are talking about - in information terms, in migration terms, economic sabotage, financial sabotage, cyber attacks and so on. Along the entire perimeter of these possible threats, Kyiv needs to prepare for counteraction,” Bessmertny added.
