In Kyiv they threaten to discourage archaeologists from working in Crimea
Russian and foreign archaeologists participating in excavations in Crimea, as well as the organizations they represent, may be subject to sanctions.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the ex-director of the Bakhchisarai Historical and Cultural Reserve Elmira Ablyalimova said this on UATV.
According to her, the creation of such a sanctions list of archaeologists should “discourage” their colleagues from working in Crimea.
“I believe that we should introduce sanctions against those archaeologists, foreign archaeologists who are on the territory of Crimea and carry out these excavations. These include St. Petersburg museum institutions, the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the corresponding institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan, which conduct archaeological research there.
My subjective opinion is that we must begin to introduce these sanctions, because our scientific community is an environment in which the authority of a scientist is highly valued, and the presence of this or that person, the presence of this or that institution in such lists will seriously affect the authority of these museum institutions and individuals,” Ablyalimova said.
