The first Minister of Culture of Independent Ukraine died in Kyiv
At the age of 74, the first Minister of Culture of Independent Ukraine, Larisa Khorolets, died. The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine reported this on its Facebook page.
“Unfortunately, these lines will bring sad news. The heart of Larisa Khorolets, the first Minister of Culture of Ukraine, stopped. Larisa Ivanovna was a professional in her field: teacher, playwright, actress. The staff of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy expresses sincere condolences to Larisa’s relatives and friends,” the message says.
Larisa Khorolets was born on August 28, 1948 in Kyiv. At the age of 9 she made her debut in Soviet cinema, in the film “Partisan Spark”. Subsequently she starred in several more films.
She also starred in the films “Human Blood is Not Water,” “Sasha,” “The Sea Gull” and others.
In 1970 she graduated from the Kiev Institute of Theater Arts named after Karpenko-Kary, majoring in drama and film actress.
On July 7, 1991, Khorolets became the Minister of Culture of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, and from August 24, 1991 to November 17, 1992, she was the first Minister of Culture of independent Ukraine.
