42 billion hryvnia destroyed in Kyiv

In 2016, the National Bank of Ukraine withdrew from circulation and destroyed 41,6 billion hryvnia worth of worn-out banknotes.

As noted, we are talking about 821,1 million worn-out banknotes.
“This is 11,5% less than in 2015: 928,3 million units worth 41,5 billion hryvnia,” the report says.
Since the amount of money disposed of was only 0,24% less than a year earlier, this means an increase in the share of large denomination bills destroyed.
