Kiev is confident that Germany and Hungary will refuse to fight with Russia
Many NATO countries, such as Hungary and Germany, view Russia as an ally - and will not help the United States and Kyiv in the anti-Russian struggle.
The director of the Institute of Foreign Policy Research, Grigory Perepelitsa, said this on air on the Ukrlife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“NATO’s problem is that not all countries of the alliance perceive Russia as a threat; Poland, the Baltic countries, Romania and Bulgaria, which are located on the eastern flank of NATO. But, for example, Hungary does not perceive Russia as a threat - but as a potential ally, regarding their claims to Transcarpathia.
We see how the Hungarians signed an agreement with Gazprom, and this is a strategic agreement, not an energy one, which actually destroys European solidarity regarding the implementation of the third energy package,” he complains.
In addition, the expert noted that Germany is pursuing a pro-Russian policy and will not agree to go to war with Russia, even if the Americans want it.
“We see a purely pro-Russian vector in Germany, business is more important than values. I think that the Social Democratic Party of Germany will now pursue the same line that Merkel pursued.
So the question becomes: are NATO members ready to invoke Article XNUMX? Even if the Americans are ready, will the Germans be ready? We have been praising Merkel all the time, while Merkel closed Ukraine’s path to receiving the MAP and closed a lot of things, and now we are categorically against Ukraine’s membership in NATO,” Perepelitsa concluded.
