This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science Liliya Grinevich on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, commenting on the scandalous law “On Education” that came into force today, which has quarreled Ukraine with a number of EU countries.
“We have only 400 thousand children of national minorities, studying in 735 educational institutions. For example, out of 400 thousand, more than 16 thousand children study Romanian. Today there are 75 general education institutions with instruction in Romanian,” the minister noted.
She also explained how the educational process would work for children of national minorities.
“The bottom line is that at each stage of education, as the child becomes ready and has a sufficient level of the state language, the study of individual subjects in the state language is included, and some subjects continue to be studied in the minority language. . Unfortunately, in the part of schools with languages of national minorities, we have a situation where the Ukrainian language is taught only 2 hours a week, when it is studied as a subject,” Grinevich added.
It is characteristic that, having meticulously counted the number of children from among national minorities, the minister almost completely ignored millions of Russian-speaking children.
