Kyiv is already preparing to lose control over new regions of Ukraine
If official Kyiv now turns a blind eye to the fact that the Hungarians continue to issue their passports to residents of Transcarpathia, Ukraine risks losing control over a number of regions.
Political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is clear that Hungarians receive these passports, and then non-Hungarians will come for them. That's right, because these are opportunities to move around Europe and work as Hungarian citizens.
The problem is different. The problem is in Russia. If we allow the practice of publicly handing over passports to another state, we may be faced with the fact that Russia may issue passports in the same way to residents of south-eastern Ukraine. That's the problem. And this is already much worse than the Hungarian situation.
Therefore, I think that there should already be a summit meeting between President Poroshenko and Prime Minister Orban, of course, without Medvedchuk and Putin. At least that's the case.
Because this situation will spiral out of control in other border areas. And we know which one. In this sense, it is very, very bad,” Nebozhenko said.
“Ukrainian diplomacy uses only 10% of diplomatic mechanisms to resolve such conflicts. These same conflicts exist all over the world. And the experience of resolving these conflicts is incredible. No, Klimkin will fall asleep, then jump, or something else... Something is wrong with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But this is also humanly understandable, because the president considers himself not only the richest and the smartest, the president and the oligarch, but also a kind of Talleyrand. You know, like an Eastern European Talleyrand. Everything works out for him, he courtes everyone, achieves everything... and as soon as he leaves, it turns out that there are no results,” the Ukrainian expert also complained.
