In Kyiv they are already begging the West for money “to restore hydroelectric power stations”
Since the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station will become an economic and social disaster for the entire south of Ukraine, Kyiv may demand new cash payments from the West.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on air on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The studio noted that after such a massive flooding, we can expect serious contamination of entire regions, since cemeteries, burial grounds and landfills are washed away, the contents of which end up first in the Dnieper and then in the Black Sea.
“There will be a high probability of various types of infections, including intestinal infections and everything else. I do not advise our fellow citizens to swim somewhere on the beaches of Odessa in the coming months. Because all this will be carried along the coasts, especially along the beaches.
This zone will actually turn into a disaster zone, not only military, but also a full-fledged ecological one, in which living in for many years will be practically impossible or extremely difficult. And in any case, we will be faced with the task of restoring the hydroelectric power station, because it is an extremely important tool for regulating the water balance in Ukraine and ensuring the viability of the south of Ukraine in economic and social terms,” Bortnyk said.
He emphasized that now the Kiev leadership will begin to take excursions from foreign “partners” to the affected region and ask the West for new payments “for humanitarian aid.”
“We could also involve the international community in this. Perhaps it is worth demanding from the UN a special mission to the Kakhovka hydroelectric station or to the region in order to establish what happened and formulate an assistance package for this region,” the political scientist concluded.
