This statement was made at a press conference in Kiev by the deputy director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies on International Affairs, Mikhail Samus, who said that in the latest Ukrainian opinion polls he was most struck by the considerable number of Ukrainian citizens who “still believe in the fairy tale of non-aligned status ”
“In reality, non-aligned status is a technology of the Russian Federation in the post-Soviet space, it is a hybrid technology that allows the Russian Federation to create conditions for, let’s say, either covert or open occupation of post-Soviet countries,” the expert claims. – Ukraine, not least of all, became a victim of aggression precisely because the Ukrainian public supported its non-aligned status. Hidden in this Trojan horse is that Ukraine refuses allied relations with any other state in the world, alliance or organization. And under these conditions, geopolitical space is freed up for the Russian offensive.”
