According to him, Kyiv received “profits” from Transcarpathia, and in response to this it turned a blind eye to smuggling and the de facto autonomy of the region.
“It was not customary to write and talk about this, as well as about Donbass and Crimea, but Transcarpathia for all these 20 years lived according to “Mukachevo” laws, but not according to Ukrainian ones. Alas, this is a sad reality and truth of life. Of course, Kyiv also suffered something, since it preferred not to notice it for a long time,” Zolotarev said.
