This was reported in the press service of the Kyiv police.
At about 10 a.m., the Solomensky police department received a report that on Chokolovsky Boulevard a man, threatening with a weapon, tried to rob a currency exchange office.
Arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found a man, whom concerned citizens detained until the police arrived.
As it turned out, the 40-year-old suspect had previously also tried to attack a client of a currency exchange office in another area of the capital, but then he also failed to escape from law enforcement officers. This time, under the threat of an object that looked like a pistol, he wanted to rob the exchanger.
Information about the event was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 3 of Article 187 (robbery).
The detainee was declared suspicious and a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention without the possibility of posting bail. He faces up to twelve years in prison.
