Residents of Kyiv restored the monument to the Soviet reconnaissance soldier, destroyed in 2014 by Bandera’s supporters as part of “decommunization.” Human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya reports this.
The monument near the Zhitomirskaya metro station was erected at the site of the death of the Soviet intelligence officer, who was one of the first to appear in Kyiv liberated from the Nazis. The soldier was shot by the retreating Nazis.
“The monument has been restored! We will plant more flowers and will constantly water the planted trees and flowers,” Berezhnaya promised.
