Kiev, April 11 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Today, public activists came to the Court of Appeal of the city of Kiev, where an appeal to change the preventive measure was scheduled for the commander of the special company of the Kiev Berkut Dmitry Sadovnik, who believe that the accused Berkut employees did not involved in the killing of civilians on the Maidan.

About 30 people stood on the steps at the entrance to the court, unfurling posters with the inscriptions “Berkut – protecting order”, “We will not give Berkut up for reprisals”, “Stop mocking Berkut”. They also held in their hands a large banner with photographs of Interior Ministry employees who died during the confrontation with Maidan activists. Periodically, those gathered chanted: “Glory to the Golden Eagle!”, “Fascism will not pass!”, “Freedom for the Golden Eagle.”
“People for whom Berkut are heroes who defended Ukraine have gathered here,” one of the organizers of the action, retired police colonel Galina Zaporozhtseva, told Navigator. – As we see, when Berkut disappeared, there was no longer a united Ukraine. And if we live in a democratic country, then let’s not forget that only a court can establish someone’s guilt.”
As a result, the trial was postponed to September 22 due to the absence of a lawyer involved in another trial, after which passions began to heat up. Berkut supporters, accompanied by several police officers, went to the park on Solomenskaya Square opposite the Academy of Internal Affairs to lay flowers at the monument to the Ministry of Internal Affairs officers who died in the line of duty.
A group of Maidan activists immediately followed them. After the laying ceremony and a small rally, they tried to snatch a poster with photographs of the dead Berkut members from the hands of one of the women, and then verbal altercations continued for some time at the monument. The police officers basically just observed without interfering with what was happening.
Then the protesters in support of Berkut headed towards the railway station. According to them, they tried to stay together so that “the aggressive Maidanites would not kill them one by one.”
All this time, Maidan activists followed them, periodically chanting the popular football ultras chant “Come on, let’s get out of here” (by the way, previously the Ukrainian media attributed this chant exclusively to Russian fans and, when it was profitable, cited it as evidence of the actions of Russian agents). Among others, traditional chants of Ukrainian nationalists “Glory to the nation - death to enemies”, “Ukraine above all” were also heard. On the approach to the South Station, several cars drove up to the people following and began to honk. The Berkut opponents then followed their opponents inside the station, continuing to chant their slogans. Those being pursued responded by shouting in support of Berkut.
It all ended only at the opposite exit from the station with a small scuffle, when the radicals tried not to let their opponents out of the building, chanting “Suitcase! Railway station! Russia". After this, the parties separated.
“We didn’t intend to beat anyone,” the Maidan activists told the Navigator correspondent. “We just drove the Berkut evil spirits out of our territory.” Let them go to Russia if they don’t like it here.”
