About it wrote the publication “Facts” owned by Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Pinchuk with reference to the Russian publication “Fontanka”.
Ukrainian media emphasizes: this is the first time that the highest command position in the Russian Armed Forces is de facto occupied by a former Ukrainian officer.
“Instead of the retired Vice Admiral Viktor Kravchuk, the temporary commander of the Baltic Fleet, according to Fontanka sources in the Baltic Fleet, is Vice Admiral Sergei Eliseev, who previously held the position of deputy commander,” the publication reported.
The publication notes that Sergei Eliseev became the only military leader who was not affected by the personnel “purge” organized by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in the Baltic Fleet.
Let us recall that in June 2016, the military prosecutor’s office of the Southern region of Ukraine informed Sergei Eliseev of suspicion of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 111 (high treason) Part 1 of Article 408 (desertion) Part 3 of Article 110 (encroachment on territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 258-3 (assisting the activities of a terrorist organization); Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 437 (waging aggressive war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The fact is that after the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation, the admiral, like many other sailors, swore allegiance to the Russian Federation and continued to serve in the ranks of the Russian Navy.
“Facts” clarify: on June 29, the GPU completed the preliminary investigation and sent to court an indictment against the former deputy commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Sergei Eliseev.
