In Kyiv they are outraged - there are “unacceptably few” sentences for treason
In Crimea alone, thousands of officials went over to the side of Russia, and at the same time, during the 7 years of “aggression” in Ukraine, only a couple of dozen people were convicted of treason.
The former deputy head of the State Hydrography of Ukraine, lawyer Bogdan Ustimenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to draw your attention to the very sad statistics in our country that in fact, over the 7 years that Russian aggression against our country continues, only 20 citizens of Ukraine were convicted of treason.
We know very well, I myself am from Crimea, I remember some events when 92 percent of SBU employees, the lion's share of judges and prosecutors, court workers, went over to the side of the enemy. That is, these people did not suffer any criminal liability, or any at all - these are thousands of people! We have only 20 convictions per thousand people,” Ustimenko is indignant.
“This question is extremely important, since we all know the rule from Roman law, that is, when a criminal is not punished, this encourages others to continue to commit similar crimes. Everyone sees this impunity, and nothing good will come from it,” added the “Svidomo” lawyer.
