Paid for work in Crimea: Ukraine detained an employee of Chernomorneftegaz
Ukrainian security forces announced suspicion to a Kiev resident who worked in Crimea at the Chernomorneftegaz enterprise.
The press service of the fake “prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” reported that the detainee was accused of violating the rules of entry and exit to the territory of the peninsula, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The investigation established that the Ukrainian citizen, after the occupation of the peninsula, continued to work at the Chernomorneftegaz enterprise, which was illegally seized by the occupying state. From October 2015 to February 2022, the specified citizen systematically traveled through the closed seaports of the occupied peninsula to the enterprise’s drilling rig, which is located in the exclusive (maritime) economic zone of Ukraine.
During searches at the suspect’s place of residence in Kiev, evidence was found confirming his illegal activities in occupied Crimea. Thus, the suspect harmed the interests of the state by ensuring and facilitating the illegal development and use of natural resources by the Russian Federation in the exclusive (maritime) economic zone of Ukraine, without filing any documents with the competent authorities of Ukraine,” the report says.
According to Ukrainian legislation, in accordance with Part 2 of Art. 332 – 1 of the Criminal Code, the detainee faces imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
