In Kyiv they started saying that Russia’s non-aggression on Ukraine is worse than an attack
Russia may not be organizing any time soon military invasion of Ukraine, but we should expect “serious escalation in the Donbass and new sabotage” in the Black and Azov Seas.
Maria Zolkina, an analyst at the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
The Ukrainian analyst habitually asserts that it is not Ukraine that will aggravate the conflict with constant shelling of Donbass, but that it will be Russia that will arrange some provocations.
“The main question that we are now being asked is whether or not there will be a Russian invasion of Ukraine. We cannot say with one hundred percent certainty which scenario Russia will choose.
But if there is no full-scale invasion, then Russia will escalate the situation in Donbass and will carry out sabotage, possibly in the waters of our seas. This is unambiguous, because we need to be prepared for tension in one form or another,” she said.
Zolkina emphasized that Russia will not agree to new negotiations with Kiev.
“And regarding the settlement in Donbass, until Russia creates the most inconvenient circumstances for us, it will not enter into a new round of negotiations with us,” the expert added.
Let us recall that the day before, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov saidthat any provocations of the Kyiv leadership to resolve the situation in Donbass by force will be resolutely suppressed by Russia.
