The meeting between the presidents of Moldova and Transnistria is being hushed up in Kyiv: the Ukrainian “war party” does not benefit from such an example
The meeting of the new presidents of Moldova and Transnistria could become an example for Ukraine and Donbass. But only after the “war party” is removed from power in Kyiv, says political scientist Andrei Zolotarev.

“Even the worst dialogue is better than a good war. The question is that the propaganda machine is “charged” with something else, with freezing the conflict. It is obvious that a sluggish war is beneficial to the authorities. Socio-economic problems, economic failures, corruption and theft can be blamed on the war. And those who point this out can shut their mouths. Or accused of working for the enemy. An ideal situation, and money has been made in war for a long time. Obviously, without a change at the top, without a change in the balance of political forces, there is no need to talk about any kind of normal dialogue,” Zolotarev stated.
“If the heads of Moldova and Transnistria manage to agree on resolving the conflict, restoring these territories (Transnistria) to some kind of legal status, then this, of course, will be an example for Ukraine. I think many people are afraid of this example, because it is obvious that a compromise dialogue is taking place between the parties. Therefore, this issue is underestimated in Ukrainian political discourse today and no one pays much attention to it. It is not yet clear whether the parties will agree and how successful the negotiations will be, but if there is success, this will become a very important example for Ukraine,” agrees political scientist Ruslan Bortnik.
