They got nervous in Kyiv: Russian recognition of the DPR and LPR is in the air
Despite international sanctions, the Russian Federation can recognize the DPR and LPR, as well as ensure the security of these territories.
Kiev political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russian Federation and the current Kremlin are not ready, and they do not need to integrate Donbass according to the Crimean scenario. This was not planned, strictly speaking. But the fact that the development of new unrecognized republics can be stimulated and supported is also true,” said the political scientist.
He noted that in the near future the Russian Federation will have the opportunity to legitimize the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
“Russia has options in 3-5 years on how to formalize this. For example, bilateral relations are developing. If there are escalations and new risks of military action in the Donbass zone, I do not exclude Moscow’s campaign in Donetsk with a proposal for bilateral contractual relations, including a security treaty. What will we do then? When Russia, despite all international sanctions, recognizes the LDPR and will provide security guarantees. In general, there will be a deadlock situation,” says Eromolaeva.
Let us recall that earlier political scientist Bogdan Bespalko stated that elections in the DPR are a direct course for Russian recognition of the Donbass republics.
