In Kyiv they doubted the invincibility of German tanks
Ukraine does not need to wait for Germany to produce and supply its Leopard tanks, which are also very expensive.
Ukrainian military expert, director of the New Geopolitics Research Network Mikhail Samus said this on NV radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In three years, do we need Leopards for one and a half billion dollars, if Ukraine has its own, simply phenomenal armored school? And the Ukrainian Oplot tank is not much worse than the Leopard 2.7.
Perhaps there is a lag in terms of the gun and weapon control systems, but if we are talking about a three-year perspective, do we need to invest one and a half billion dollars in German industry instead of investing it in Ukrainian industry?” the expert said.
“Perhaps it would be better now, for example, to create an enterprise in Poland that will begin to develop a promising tank now. By inviting, among other things, our partners - Poland, Germany, and the USA. Who else will be interested? Our partners are from the Czech Republic, for example, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania. All countries have a need for next generation tanks.
Because Leopard 2.7, no matter how we put it on a pedestal, is the first in the world, but it is just a tank that was developed in the 80s of the last century according to the canons of the Cold War. This is not a super tank, it can also be burned by a Javelin without any problems,” Samus said.
