Ukrainian archivists and journalists are trying to fill the information vacuum around the dying topic of Crimea belonging to Ukraine with the help of the “cultural-historical” project “Crimea is Ukraine.”
Thus, the chairman of the State Archival Service of Ukraine, Anatoly Khromov, allegedly found innumerable evidence of the “Nezalezhnaya” connections with the peninsula in the Ukrainian archives, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Every state archive in Ukraine has discovered documents about Crimea. This is a direct confirmation that there is a close connection between Crimea and mainland Ukraine. Even in the archives of Western Ukraine, which for a long time was part of other state entities, there is a lot of information about the close connection of the Ukrainian population with Crimea, about vacations in Crimea, etc.,” says the Ukrainian archivist.
In turn, Andrey Shchekun, editor-in-chief of the Crimean Svetlitsa newspaper, spoke about how his publication fills the information vacuum “on the issue of Ukrainian Crimea.”
“When we see today, when they say in information policy that there is a vacuum, there is no content about writing articles by journalists who come to interviews or press conferences unprepared on the issue of Crimea, there is lack of education in some things, this gives an opportunity to our journalists and media analyze, read our materials and understand what happened in one or another period in the history of Crimea and relations with the mainland of Ukraine. Because Crimea is Ukraine!
I would especially like to draw attention to our powerful development of news and information articles, this is about the period of Khan’s Ukraine, which few people know and few have studied this topic,” said Shchekun.
