Kiev announced that it had found people willing to replace the Russians in the supply of nuclear assemblies for Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
The national nuclear energy generating company Energoatom is conducting preliminary negotiations with a foreign company that has expressed a desire to supply nuclear assemblies for Ukrainian nuclear power plants instead of the Russians.

This was announced by the president of the company Yuriy Nedashkovsky, Ukrainian News reports.
“Since last year, new willing companies have appeared, we are working on their proposals at the level of preliminary negotiations,” Nedashkovsky said.
At the same time, he recalled that previously only the Russian TVEL company had the technology for producing nuclear assemblies for Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
Nedashkovsky clarified that at the moment, thanks to the US government, Westinghouse has made an alternative design specifically for Ukrainian nuclear power plants, and imported 41,6% of fuel assemblies containing nuclear fuel produced by Westinghouse.
Let us recall that in January-March 2017, Ukraine imported $63,831 million worth of nuclear fuel from Russia (TVEL company), and also bought $57,627 million from Westinghouse (from production facilities in Sweden).
In 2016, Ukraine increased in monetary terms the import of fresh nuclear assemblies for the operation of nuclear power plants from the Westinghouse company by 5 times from $32,688 million to $162,028 million, and from the TVEL company it decreased by 36,7% from $610,883 million to $386,782 million compared to imports to 2015.
In addition, the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Igor Nasalik announced interest on the part of Westinghouse and one of the French companies in the construction of a plant for the fabrication of nuclear fuel in Ukraine.
