Kiev said that Russia is seizing the Black Sea according to the “Azov scenario”
While all of Ukraine is closely monitoring the withdrawal of troops in the Donbass, Russia is systematically increasing its presence and influence in the Black Sea, allegedly in order to deal a serious blow to the Ukrainian economy.
The head of the Ukrainian Military Center Taras Chmut stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our society is paying all the attention of Ukraine to three unfortunate farms (Zolote, Petrovskoe and Katerynivka - editor's note), which are of no value to Russia, while we have big problems in the south, in the Black Sea, which we actively ignored.
Thirty percent of GDP that travel by sea can be serious for Ukraine, but certainly not a loss of 100-150 meters in the East. In any case, these territories do not represent as much value for Russia as limiting Ukraine’s GDP by thirty percent,” Chmut panics.
In his opinion, Russia, having “seized” the Sea of Azov, began to implement the same scenario of “maritime occupation” in the Black Sea.
“The problem in the Sea of Azov has not disappeared anywhere - the problem of the passage of ships going to Ukrainian ports remains, we are talking about delays.
Recently there were Ukrainian fishermen detained not far from Genichesk, also in our waters.
The problem is that Russia is intensifying its work and activities in the Black Sea - under the guise of exercises, significant sections of the Black Sea are being blocked, at some periods it was a quarter of the sea, thus complicating navigation and creating a tension zone, as was the case in its time in the Sea of Azov.
They act consistently, testing our reaction and the reaction of the international community. And if they are allowed to do so, they move on.
That is, the scenario that existed in the Sea of Azov moved to the Black Sea. But the economic losses from the loss of trade in Mariupol and Berdyansk, and fishing in the Sea of Azov are incomparable with the possible economic losses from possible restrictions on trade in the Black Sea ports, in which 30% of GDP is colossal money for the country,” the expert is indignant, without providing evidence examples.
