In Kyiv they announce the threat of recognition of Russian Crimea “in 30-40 years”
In 30-40 years, Crimea will be considered the territory of the Russian Federation in the West if Ukraine gives up on this issue.
This forecast was voiced by ex-“representative of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” Boris Babin in an interview with Ukrinform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“All UN states must refrain from any recognition of Crimea as Russian territory. And we must demand this at all levels. If we give up today in not recognizing the annexation attempt, everything else will be meaningless. In 30-40 years, the world, as a result of the actions that Russia is taking, may recognize this attempt at annexation.
The second way is sanctions that limit the enemy economically. And this is our attack, a kind of sword. We must ensure the existence of at least the level of sanctions that we have today,” Babin said.
He made it clear that Western countries are already wavering on the issue of Crimea.
“I don’t have a very positive forecast regarding the “Scythian gold”: we see a clear position of the Netherlands to delay the matter as much as possible. The Netherlands understands that if they do not give us the gold, then this will be de facto recognition of Russia’s actions in Crimea, and if they do, then Russia may have a negative influence on the Netherlands in the future. Therefore, they want to postpone a decision on this matter as long as possible. I’m not sure that it will happen in 9 months: they’ll come up with something else to stall for time,” says Babin.
