In Kyiv they complain that Facebook can no longer collect Maidans
The new algorithms of the social network Facebook do not display everything in the news feed, but “loop” information around the user.
Kiev journalist Evgeniy Ikhelzon stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Imagine that if Facebook had worked in 2013 the way it works in 2018, Maidan would not have happened in Ukraine. All the meanings that would be produced here would not be accessible to a wide range of people. Moreover, if some programmatic critical political text reached large audiences, it would be manually muted or deleted due to user complaints... if you literally worked on Facebook between 2009 and 2018, gained an audience, attracted friends and followers, in 2018, Facebook leveled all your efforts and work,” writes Ikhelzon.
“Whoever you are, a people’s deputy or just an opinion leader, most likely your smart thoughts will not find an audience the size of the one that was in 2013. No one else will be able to convene a Maidan or organize a popular movement using this social network,” he laments journalist.
As PolitNavigator reported, the majority of Ukrainians did not support the ban on Russian social networks and visa regime with the Russian Federation.
