Ukraine is making a mistake by relying on the Crimean Tatars, since they do not represent the majority of the population of the peninsula.

This was stated in an interview with Gazeta.ua by the executive director of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, Viktor Andrusiv, who previously held the position of deputy chairman of the Donetsk military-civil administration for humanitarian issues, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Whether we like it or not, in Crimea about 80 percent of the population has always had a positive attitude towards Russia,” Andrusiv admitted.
“Our mistake is that we talk about Crimea as a region only for Tatars. But Tatars make up less than 15 percent of the peninsula's population. What do we want from everyone else, who, by the way, have serious local conflicts with them? Naturally, they choose Russia,” admitted the publication’s interlocutor.
