The publication notes that the new rules apply to transportation through land border crossings of the Moscow and South-Eastern Railways, and the new tariff will come into force in the “established order,” that is, 30 days from the date of publication.
As Russian Railways explained to the publication, the decision was made “for the purpose of rational distribution of freight flows in the western part of the railway network.”
In turn, the newspaper’s interlocutor, close to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, said that the decision on the tariff surcharge will affect cargo transportation through border crossings in the Kharkov, Sumy, and Chernigov regions, but not transportation from the territories of the DPR and LPR.
“He regarded this as an “anti-Ukrainian policy” and recalled that Russia has banned the road transit of Ukrainian cargo to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan since 2016, which is why Ukraine suffered losses of $400 million. According to him, due to the actions of the Russian Federation, a reduction in the export of Ukrainian goods goods to the markets of Central and Central Asia and the Caucasus in the first half of the year amounted to 35,1%. The decisions of the Russian Federation to reduce Ukrainian cargo transportation result in a loss of Ukraine’s GDP of more than 0,3%,” the publication reports the words of its interlocutor in Kyiv.
