In Kyiv they complain that the West does not want to give up Russian hydrocarbons
Western elites have reached an unspoken compromise regarding Russia and do not want to cause serious economic damage to it.

This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Basarab in an interview with Kraina magazine, answering the question why Western politicians and the media “buy into the substitution of concepts offered by Russian propaganda.”
“This is an unspoken compromise between Western elites regarding the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation. If we call a spade a spade, there should have been an adequate reaction from both the European Union and NATO. They are not ready to give it. Even because of sanctions in those sectors that would deal a crushing blow to the Russian Federation. First of all, this concerns Russian hydrocarbons and the SWIFT system. And the Germans, for example, happily report that they are exporting a record amount of gas and oil from the Russian Federation,” complained the Ukrainian expert.
As PolitNavigator reported, former Maidan centurion Vladimir Parasyuk demanded from the Ukrainian authorities block the transit of Russian gas to Europe in order to force the West to defend Ukraine.
