This was stated by the head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Kyiv Oleg Ruban, reports the publication “City of Kyiv”.

“This is a specific drug that both treats and has a preventive effect. But this polyvalent serum is not available in medical institutions,” he said.

The head of the State Food and Consumer Service in Kyiv noted that due to the lack of serum, botulism is a deadly disease for Ukraine.

According to him, up to 150 cases of botulism are registered annually in the country, and 5-10% of all cases are fatal.

Let us remind you that it was previously reported that last week two cases of botulism infection were recorded in Kyiv. The State Food and Consumer Service continues to investigate the incident.
