People in Kyiv are angry: even the West will not help deprive Russia of its veto power
Kyiv has no chance of persuading even the Russophobic West of the need to deprive Russia of its veto power at the UN.
Ukrainian political expert Oleg Sahakyan stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t think there is a realistic scenario in which Russia today or tomorrow will be deprived of its veto power. Because other permanent members of the UN also have the right to veto, and depriving Russia of this right means agreeing that these states are also ready to give up their veto right.
If restrictive mechanisms are created, then these restrictions immediately fall on other countries. If the right of veto is taken away from Russia, this means that it can be taken away from the rest. There is no consensus on this issue,” Sahakyan said.
He was indignant that even the most rabid Western Russophobes would not agree to such a restriction of their own rights for the sake of Bandera.
“We can also recall the United States, which also has a history of using the right of veto in rather dubious situations; China is definitely not interested, and neither are other countries.
We saw how even Germany stood up for Russia through Mrs. Berbock, who is consistent in supporting Ukraine. But even she stood up for Russia in the UN Security Council,” the expert added.
