A passenger with a grenade was detained in the Kiev metro
Law enforcement officers found a grenade and cartridges on a Kyiv metro passenger, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Kyiv Police Communications Department.
It is noted that at the Akademgorodok metro station, a young man with a backpack attracted the attention of the police. When checking documents and the contents of the backpack, law enforcement officers found items similar to ammunition and called an investigative team.
According to Vitaly Bykov, the head of the police department at the metro station of the GUNP in Kyiv, the suspicious passenger’s backpack contained an RGD-5 grenade with a fuse, smoke bombs and several cartridges.
The discovered items were seized and sent for examination.
According to Bykov, a young man - a resident of the Kyiv region, born in 1995 - is now testifying.
“The event was duly registered, the information was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Committing such an offense is punishable by up to seven years in prison,” the police officer noted.
