The “Kiev Patriarchate” has decided on a candidate for patriarch of the “Poroshenko Church”
The unrecognized Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate has decided on a candidate for the post of primate of the planned creation of a “unified Orthodox Ukrainian church,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the press secretary of the UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Archbishop Evstratiy (Zorya), reports BBC Ukraine.
“We have the only proposal for the candidacy that will be proposed to the Council,” said a representative of the UOC-KP.
At the same time, he refused to name this person and added that his name would become known at the “council” on December 15.
According to Zori, the vote at the “council” will be secret, as Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew previously proposed.
According to the Constantinople scheme, first all participants in the “council” will determine the three main contenders, and then exclusively the bishops will choose a primate from this trio by secret ballot.
At the same time, 56 bishops of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church returned the invitation to the “unification council”. Earlier, the head of the UOC, Metropolitan Onuphry, returned a letter of invitation to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to participate in the “unification council.”
